The UK’s Favourite Local Business competition gives people the chance to win a £1000 Oldham Gift Card. The winning business receives a £500 gift card 

The Oldham Gift Card is backing a national UK’s Favourite Local Business 2024 competition as part of a drive to encourage support for local businesses.

People can nominate their favourite local business in the competition, free, giving the name of the local business they think deserves to win and a reason. 

Shops, restaurants, salons, hotels, attractions and services are all eligible to be the UK’s Favourite Local Business 2024. 

The UK’s Favourite Local Business will win a £500 Town & City Gift Card, such as the Oldham Gift Card, with one person who nominated them winning a £1000 local gift card. 

The Oldham Gift Card launched in Oldham in August 2024 and can be spent with over 45  local businesses, giving the recipient choice and making support for local easy. 

Clla Fida Hussain, Oldham Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, said the UK’s Favourite Local Business competition is for people to show their love for local:

“From your local coffee shop to your favourite restaurant, your go-to salon to the best florist, Oldham’s local businesses are the backbone of our communities and now is the time to show how important they are by nominating them to be the UK’s Favourite Local Business.

“Being nominated as Britain’s best local business would be a huge boost for any business in the town.”

The Oldham Gift Card is part of the award winning Town & City Gift Card concept from fintech Miconex. Over 20,000 local businesses are part of Miconex’s local gift card programs around the world with over £30m spent locally through the cards.
